Drying Rate Testing

MSC Drying Rate Test Method
Scope: This test method measures the rate at which a wet out sample will become dry. Caution is advised when using the results obtained by this test due to the fact that it is based solely on the fan speed and distance the scale is from the conditioning unit.
- Sample is conditioned in atmospheric conditions for textiles
- Then a sample is saturated to 2.5 to 3 times it original weight with di-ionized water
- Then placed on a mesh holder on a scale that records the weight every 5 minutes
- The sample is considered dry when it reaches 5% of its original weight
- A drying rate is calculated and reported
